Ben Lochtenberg

Founder and Managing Director

Ben Lochtenberg has 30 years of experience in industrial chemicals, semiconductors and solar cell manufacturing. Prior to starting Xero Solar in 2010, Ben was Vice President of Business Development for ATMI Inc. where he was responsible for developing and commercializing novel material science technology for semiconductor fabrication and advanced solar cells. Ben has also presented at the IEEE Photovoltaic Conference and has coauthored several patents for advanced solar cell fabrication. From 1997 to 2003, Ben worked for Cookson Electronics. There he was responsible for leading the effort that changed the way that semiconductor integrated circuits are made through the adoption of electroplated copper. Prior to that Ben was a District Sales Manager for Nalco Chemical which supplies industrial specialty chemicals for water and waste water treatment and the energy services fields. Ben holds a BS in Chemistry from Pennsylvania State University and a certificate from the Anderson School of Management at UCLA for the Executive Program in Management. Ben is also a registered contractor with CSLB with designations in C-46 Solar and C-10 Electrical. In addition Ben is a NABCEP Certified Solar PV Installer (#092411-94.)

Kirstin Bement

General Manager, Director of Sales

Kirstin has 10 years experience in the Solar Industry across a wide range of positions. Prior to joining Xero Solar in 2013, Kirstin was Chief Operations Officer for Permacity Solar, based in Los Angeles, where he managed the day-to-day functions of the business. Kirstin has been instrumental in the development, project management and installation of over 20 MW of solar projects. Speaking of instrumental, Kirstin hold a BA degree in music production and engineering from Berklee and is sometimes heard playing his horns on the Sunset strip after the sun sets.

Alicia Kling

Director of Operations

Alicia Kling is the Director of Operations for Xero Solar. Prior to joining Xero Solar in 2013,  Kling had 10 years experience in system integration developing a strong technical background in hardware engineering, operator interface, supervisory control and data acquisition, and project execution. Responsibilities included project support at every stage, such as quoting, system design, documentation, procurement, implementation, testing, and on-site support. Kling is a graduate of Villanova University with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. At Xero Solar, Alicia has an active role in helping to support the many facets of photovoltaic solar design and installation, such as permitting, procurement, operations, compliance, and customer relations.

Tim Burdiak

Director of Engineering

Tim Burdiak, a Manhattan Beach native, joined Xero Solar in 2013 as a Solar Installer. Tim quickly mastered the engineering and fundamentals of solar construction and the use of computer modeling as he developed the company's proprietary modeling tools. These tools help us to calculate and verify the savings obtained by our customers in order to assess the viability of our solar systems. Tim now heads engineering at Xero Solar and oversees's designing, commissioning and monitoring of solar systems and battery back up systems. Tim has a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Loyola Marymount University and is certified through the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (#041616-012353.) Outside of the office Tim represents Team USA in flat water sprint kayak and surf lifesaving competition. Burdiak recently won the Bronze medal for the USA in the 4-man Kayak at the 2016 Pan American Championships at Lake Lanier, GA. Adding to the medals this year, Burdiak brought home the Gold at the Life Saving World Championships in Netherlands.

Bob Hoffman

Strategic Development

Bob Hoffman joins Xero Solar to assist with Special Operations and to provide business development management to the growing function of Xero Solar’s Energy Storage and commercial development projects. With over 30 years of experience in the utility, independent power and deregulated energy industries, Bob will provide invaluable experience and perspective.
Bob started his career at Pacific Gas and Electric coordinating energy management programs and negotiating cogeneration power purchase agreements and worked for Combustion Engineering supporting conceptual design and financial analysis of cogeneration projects. Bob held management positions with major power development companies, including Edison Mission Energy, UniSource, and AES, developing power generation projects in the western US and Latin America. At the onset of California’s electric deregulation, Bob was founding member and Vice President of New Energy Ventures (Constellation NewEnergy), a retail energy services provider where Bob was responsible for energy supply, business development, and corporate planning. Bob has advised wind, solar, and energy storage developers on utility regulation, interconnection, and wholesale power transactions. Most recently, Bob was with California Resources Corporation (formerly Occidental Petroleum) where he managed power marketing and energy management for California operations.
Bob is a Licensed Mechanical Engineer in California and holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from Georgia Tech and a Business-Economics degree from the State University College at Oneonta, New York.
