Testimonials

Transforming energy solutions for our clients.

We were thrilled with every aspect of the project from the early design process through to watching the new meter showing power flowing back into the grid. Xero Solar managed the ongoing relationships with LADWP and City of Los Angeles which was greatly appreciated. They also worked with us to minimize the visual impact of all the new equipment on our mid-century home.

They worked with our roofer to ensure that the installation wouldn't affect the warranty on our roof. Xero Solar took care of all of the paperwork with SoCal Edison, permitting, and our SGIP incentive rebate. Everyone I've dealt with has been polite and helpful.

Xero Solar not only takes care of their customers, but they operate their business with honesty and integrity. I recommend them to anyone who mentions they might be interested in solar!

Frequently Asked Questions

How Long Does it Take to Install Solar Panels?

The entire process of installing residential solar panels typically takes between 3 to 6 months, from initial consultation to final solar panel installation and interconnection. This includes permitting, design, installation, and utility approval.

Do You Need a Permit for Solar Panels?

Yes, a permit to install solar panels on your home is always required. In addition to obtaining the necessary permits, a final inspection must be completed before your system can be interconnected and officially recognized by your utility provider.

How do Solar Panels Impact Your Electric Bill?

The impact on your electric bill varies depending on your utility provider. For example, customers under SCE’s NEM 3.0 program primarily benefit by offsetting their energy consumption with solar production. In contrast, LADWP customers may still benefit from net metering credits, where excess energy produced by your system is credited back to offset usage. Billing structures and incentives differ by utility, so it’s important to evaluate your specific provider’s policies.

Is my House a Good Candidate for Solar Panels?

Homes less suitable for solar may include those with: very low electricity usage, heavily shaded or obstructed roof space, extremely steep roof pitch, fragile or delicate roofing materials (e.g., certain tile roofs,) short-term occupancy plans, older homes with outdated electrical systems.

Homes well-suited for solar typically have: flat or south-/west-facing, unobstructed roof areas, minimal shading throughout the day, medium to high monthly electricity bills (typically $250 or more,) long-term residency plans, electric vehicles (EVs) that are charged at home.

Do I Have to Pay Cash or Does Xero Solar Offer Other Options?

With the early termination of the residential ITC, Xero Solar has partnered with Participate.Energy to offer a new way to go solar that keeps your upfront cost lower by realizing savings under the commercial ITC, while giving you flexibility later.

It’s called a Customer Participation Agreement (CPA). The CPA is a prepaid lease where Participate.Energy owns the system and you prepay for your energy with no additional fees, payments, or financial obligations for 25 years for solar and 10 years for batteries. Participate.Energy is able to claim available solar tax benefits and pass those along to you as an upfront discount, unlike other programs where you need to wait and claim a rebate later.

Here’s how it works: you make a one-time payment of 70% of the system cost, and Participate.Energy funds the remaining 30% during the project. There’s no credit check required to participate, and if you sell your home, the agreement is fully and freely transferable to the new buyer with a simple notice. If you want to own the system, you’ll have an option starting after year 6 to transfer ownership at little to no cost. This solution is supported by leading solar lenders and provides an accessible path to solar ownership, while maximizing your savings from day one. Xero Solar continues to provide warranty and support, as with all of our customers.
